Hugh Thomas (priest)
The Revd Hugh Thomas DD (ca. 1706 - 11 July 1780)〔Memorials of Cambridge. Charles Henry Cooper. Cambridge University Press. 2012〕 was Archdeacon of Nottingham, Dean of Ely Cathedral and Master of Christ's College, Cambridge.
==Career==

He was educated at Pembroke Grammar School, then Christ's College Cambridge 1724 – 1728 where he was awarded BA. He was admitted a Fellow of the College in 1728 and awarded MA in 1731.
He was afterwards Chaplain to Archbishop Matthew Hutton, and Archdeacon of Nottingham from 1748〔Annals of Nottinghamshire: Thomas Bailey. Simpkin, 1853〕 – 1780.
In February 1754 he was elected Master of Christ's College Cambridge and awarded Doctor of Divinity. In 1758 he was appointed Dean of Ely.〔The history and antiquities of the conventual & cathedral church of Ely. James Bentham. Stevenson, Matchett, and Stevenson, 1812〕
